Wheel of Life

October 7, 2010

Would you consider driving down the road with a flat tire? Or riding your mountain bike on rough terrain with a flat tire?

We do something very similar every day. We roll through life feeling out of balance. It might be between our business and personal lives. Or between our values/intentions and our daily living.

I resisted the WHEEL OF LIFE and BALANCE Jenness Hall, my first life coach, wanted to explore it with me. Oh dear Jenness, I apologize now, especially given how often I use the Wheel of Life or some variant in my own coaching!

Could it be I was resistant because I knew I was out of balance? I wasn’t happy. My values and the life I was living were not in synch.

Using my hand (4 fingers, thumb, and palm) I instinctively used a wellness model to check in with myself. The palm of my hand represents my center.

Fingers and thumb are parts of my life – physical, occupational, emotional, social, and intellectual. Oh, sometimes I give them different names. Parenting, partnering, vocation, health, friendships …

And my palm centers me.

We all get knocked off center sometimes.

I’m curious:

Where is YOUR center? What do you do to regain balance and come back to your center?

Coaching for a Cause.

October 1, 2010

Many coaches, and I’m peaking in the life/business/career coach not the athletic sense, offer a complimentary session to introduce clients to coaching style, persona, and then offer a package of coaching if you wish to continue.

I “Coach for a Cause.” If a prospective client writes a (tax deductible) check to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) I offer them what be may be called a sample session.

It’s win/win. The prospective client gets a tax deduction, feels good about helping a cause, and I honor my passion of raising funds for the NMSS – which will eventually help me. Maybe one of the dollars I raise will find the cure.

I live with the constant companionship for multiple sclerosis. A chronic progressive illness.

Coaching for a Cause lets me introduce that fact, and move on.

I’m curious.

What (or you) are your constant companions?

Giving from the Heart … 29 Gifts … a Spiritual Prescription

September 9, 2010

Cami Walker wrote a lovely book titled 29 Gifts.   The spiritual prescription she was given was to give away, yes, give away, something each day for 29 days.  And write about it.

Have you tried or explored 29 Gifts?  I urge you to do so …

Welcome Blog …

May 18, 2010

“Hi, I’m Caitlin Laura Anderson:  first born, left-handed, Scorpio, year of the Snake, Unitarian Universalist, PhD, life coach and consultant, wife, mother, and since 2006, living with Multiple Sclerosis.”

What brings you here?  What are you curious about?

I’m here to ask questions.  Of myself.  Of you.

I’m here to heal.  Am finding that creating is healing.  For me.

And what am I creating?  This.

And art – beading, mosaics, making books.  Collages.

“I’m a little ADD with art,” I explain.

Besides creating, I’m also learning.  Once beyond the PhD, I yearned to keep learning.  MBTI certification, life coaching certification after extensive training, and now art.

And I’m learning to regain balance when knocked off center.

I’m curious … what brings you back to center?
